Clean, Thoughtful Design to Make My Financial Organizing Simple

I have been using Savings 2 since March of 2018 because I was looking for a personal finance app that was A) simple to use and B) gave me the control and flexibility to enter my finances and see where I am spending the most. Savings has truly fit the bill as the design itself is very intuitive and there are no hurdles to learn or get over. On Windows, I am able to batch edit which saves me a lot of time. The iCloud sync also enables me to keep abreast of my spending and enter my spending in real time myself. This gives me a more personal feeling of responsibility that other bank sync apps do not. I also appreciate the fact that Savings does not collect/use/sell my data: the privacy policy gave me great comfort especially in comparison to other apps like Mint. All in all, I would wholeheartedly recommend Savings if you are someone who wants to gain control over your spending again and need a clean and simple app to use!

A fantastic alternative to the big guys!

I've been testing many personal finance programs over the past several weeks. This program is a fantastic alternative to the big guys. I was able to easily import my existing accounts in via CSV (although the program locked up every time, the data was there when I re-opened) and everything looks great. Some features I would love to see: -Need to add breakdown by account! -No way to sort transactions (by cleared/not cleared, payee, date, etc...) -No way to backup your entire database with accounts and scheduled transactions locally. -Ability to search for check number. Check numbers are not included in the searches. -Red flags for un-cleared transactions instead of yellow. Why yellow? -When adding recurring transactions (scheduled) there is no calendar view for the date. You have to TYPE in the day, month and year. -No iPad version -Different app icons for Windows and iOS. If this bugs you like it did me, you can use the press kit iOS icon on your Windows so they match. -No calendar view for looking at upcoming scheduled/recurring transactions. Overall a nice little program. It is incredibly fast and the UI is great. Also, iCloud sync to iOS is almost instantaneous. GREAT PROGRAM OVERALL!

Best check register/account tracker I've tried.

Savings is the best checking account register of the many I've tried. It's straightforward, easy to use, and I can customize the categories to my household. I don't use the budget function- yet- but categorize every transaction to track spending. The download function was a major factor in my decision to try it, and monthly reconcilement to statements is easy. I've gradually added all my accounts, including retirement and investment accounts and more, so I have a fairly accurate snapshot of my net worth at any time. At tax time, I can create an account register to save in my tax file. HIghly recommend Savings. Easy to set up, easy to use, has all the functions 95% of the people need without the bloat. Five stars!

Why ask for review so early on?

Other than the annoyance of asking for review when I'm still learning and entering for my chageover, I find it's okay and easy enough to figure out as I go. That said, it would be nice to have a calculator for splits and making text windows appear on the icons when you hover the mouse over them. It would make figuring out what I'm doing easier. Obvious things don't always appear obvious when you're learning. It didn't occur to me initially that merely a minus in the total meant withdrawal; therefore, no minus meant a deposit. Suggesting how to post payments to credit cards would have been helpful too. I'd posted them as merely withdrawals instead of trying as a transfer. Still not sure how to go about right now - other than manually posting separately. Its not as intuitive as I am used to with Microsoft Money, and I spent a long time trying to find something to replace that old and very reliable tool. This was not rated high, but ultimately I went with my gut after reading the reviews (both critical and helpful AND the replies by the company). Hoping this works out well for me - but it's TOO SOON to really know.
