Closed functionality - designed around needs of a mobile app

A lot of the features to this application seem closed off. For example If I open up a stream to view a video feed, I’d like it to stay open, instead I’m fighting with the timeout all day long. Much of the design seems to be focused on providing you quick access to the featues, which is excellent… good job… but What I NEED is to see the video. I can’t resize the window to say… just see the video, (on a desktop computer) make it stay on top of other applications, and I can’t make it full screen without having to view the onscreen controls. It’s definitely a work in progress towards a good solution, but since I can’t access the video stream any other way than through this application, I’m going to have to ask for more, before I rate it higher.

Works okay, bad connection and keeps cutting out

It does an okay job as showing you all your cameras but it often cant connect or times out. Plus on top of the connection issues, it keeps purposely disconnecting you unless you press some prompts. Please just stop that. Why would i need to keep clicking on something thats meant to be for monitoring? Of course I want to be connected dont ask me.

    Yi Home 1080i Camera

This could easily be a 5 start review but for a one issue which gets the yi camera experience off on the wrong foot. The Yi only works with a 2G network, that in and of itself is not reeally a big problem.. The problem arises when you go through the setup process. The Yi immediately selects the nearest 5G network, and there is no way to simply "select" another network in your home or office which is operating at 2G. I have now done this at two locations, in each instance I must: 1. login to the router 2. Diable the SSID of the 5G network 3. Go back to the setup and now select the 2G side Not sure why the Yi camera is so intent on grabbing a 5G network that it can not use or connect to. Not sure why Yi does not allow the user to choose a network which appears in the WiFi list the ame way Honeywell and Nest and other companies do. The camera is very nice, the quality is excellent and with the addition of a micro SD card the storage is perfect. The iPhone app is also top shelf. Yi please fix the setup issue! Either have the camera connect to 5G, or let the user choose a network, or simply elininate the cameras ability to "see" a 5G network. thanks for looking...

    Works Flawlessly

Currently Yi is ahead of the curve above everyone else in quality, realiability, features and cost. I really don’t understand why this doesn’t have better reviews when the iphone app has a perfect rating. Tried this app just to see how well it works because I own Amcrest camcera’s that work great except they don’t have a good way to view them online or on computer. All you have to do is connect the camera with your phone then sign into the app on the computer. Done! Camera’s on your account display with exactly the same amazing features as on the iphone.

App is broken! Yi says that they know the app is broken, but don’t know when it’ll be fixed.

The app worked fine for about a year; then one day it stopped showing alert videos: The app maintains a queue of alert events, and each alert shows a keyframe and the time of the alert; when you select an alert from the queue, a five-second video clip woud play showing you the event that triggered that alert; now the queue still shows keyframes, but when you select an alert, instead of showing you the clip, the app shows an error message on the screen that says “The link has expired, please try again after refreshing”. This started happenning on my three Macs at the same time; I deleted and re-installed the app, and finally contacted Yi in November 2018; this is their reply: "Thank you for contacting YI Tech support. We are sorry that you are unable to view your cameras on Windows OS. This is a known issue and our technical team is working on this to resolve at the earliest. Please use your phone to view the camera for the time being and we will resolve this issue as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience caused.” It is now February 2019 and the app is still broken.
