PLIST Editor Overview
What is PLIST Editor? PLIST Editor is a user-friendly editor for property list (.plist) data that allows users to create, modify, visualize, and save .plist documents. It supports XML, Binary, and OpenStep/ASCII formats and can import plist data from .mobileconfig or .mobileprovision files. PLIST Editor is "source control" friendly and maintains the order of dictionary elements for XML and OpenStep/ASCII property lists. It also offers features such as multiple selection, cut/copy/paste/duplicate/delete/reorder elements, find and replace text, snippets, undo/redo, and support for NSKeyedArchiver files. Users can copy elements as Swift or Objective-C objects, JSON data, or XML/Binary/OpenStep/ASCII plists. PLIST Editor also supports versions and dark mode on macOS Mojave 10.14 and above.
1. For XML plists (the most commonly used) and OpenStep/ASCII plists, it maintains the order of dictionary elements and the editing capabilities are on parity with Xcode, so you don't see a difference between a file edited in PLIST Editor and one edited in Xcode.
2. PLIST Editor is probably the only "source control" friendly property list editor that you can find on the market (except Xcode, of course).
3. • "Source control" friendly - for XML and OpenStep/ASCII property lists the order of dictionary elements is preserved, showing them in the same order as they are defined in the file.
4. PLIST Editor is an easy to use editor for property list (.plist) data.
5. PLIST Editor can be used as a lightweight Xcode alternative, having more features, using less disk space, less memory and starting up much faster.
6. • Import plist data contained in .mobileconfig or .mobileprovision files or other files which are encoded using Cryptographic Message Syntax (CMS).
7. Similarly, when the property list is written to disk, the order of items from a dictionary written to disk is the same as the one seen on screen.
8. • Find & Replace text in the property list elements.
9. • Open and save property list files in XML, Binary and OpenStep/ASCII format.
10. For the files encoded using CMS there is support to see information about the signers (email address and certificate) and the additional certificates which might be included in the message.
11. • Edit the elements of a property list.

Like it, but wish it had more defaults
This is a really slick editor for existing plist files, but I was hoping it would offer more default values when creating new ones. For example, instead of having me type a key, I wish it would give me the option to select from a list of valid plist keys.
So far so good!
Honestly, I was going to go with a different app, but seeing how quickly the developer responded to comments gave me hope. If I run into any issues I will post my feedback. Thanks!
The right tool
Best tool for working with PList and Source Code. Saved me a lot of time. Thank you Vlad
Errors loading XML
I’ve been trying to load some standard XML files and/or schema files and recieve a general error that it’s not in the correct format. There is no help built in to the application either
The plist editor I was looking for!
I'm a hobbyist game developer and I needed a good tool to access player preferences data. I tried to use XCode before but this plist editor is a far better tool where you can sort your child variables, change font size quickly with CMD /-, and many features you can't do with XCode. Thank you Devs for developing such a great tool and making it available at a reasonable price.
