The real deal
This is the most realistic pinball simulation money can buy, and it's certainly not cheap. But the amount of tweaking you can do on the table itself is about as close as you can come to digitally owning a real pinball table. The physics are superb and the graphics are stunning. I remember playing this game when it first came out decades ago, and I'm really impressed how well it translates to the modern age. It's still a diabolically difficult table to play, but has a deep rule set and lots of challenges to keep me coming back. I thought for the price I'd be getting the other two tables in the series. But the original one here is still really impressive.
weak flippers
Short flippers. not enough angle to them either making it Very difficult to hold ball on flippers. and i couldn’t really slam the ball as hard as I’d like to. I didn’t like the overall visual of the game. tough to see the whole game even with the other visual options. I’ve tried to play this game several times thinking there was more to it, but I just didn’t like it. There were lots and lots of cool lights and flashing light, but I’ve played simpler pinball games that were a lot more fun than this one.
Best Windows Pinball
I’ve played every Windows version out there, and Pro-Pinball is hands down the best! I’m really looking forward to a re-release of Big Race U.S.A., but until then Timeshock will do just fine. My only quibble with Timeshock is that it’s just too hard! It’s actually far more a real version of pinball, where you drop quarter after quarter just trying to master the game. Other pinball games stroke your ego and are easy to keep the ball in play. But Timeshock is a constant challenge, which is partly why I look forward to B.R.U.S.A. Just like everybody else … I need a little ego stroking.
One Word - AWESOME!!!
This is an updated Blast from the Past! Timeshock was my first realistic Pinball game for the PC and I played it for a very long time. If the old PC version worked on anything newer than Windows 95, I would still be playing it to this day. This new updated version for the Windows is outstanding and here is why - First and foremost, the graphics are crystal clear, colors are vibrant, lighting is excellent, sound is nicely done as well, and most importantly Ball movement is smooth and fluid. Comparing the new version for the Windows to the old PC version is pretty straight forward. This new version’s graphics totally blow away the old and on a Retina Display it looks as realistic as it could possibly get. They did an outstanding job bringing this old classic up to date. I noticed another reviewer was complaining about the size of Pro Pinball Timeshock for Windows. This person claims it is 10GB in size instead of 550MB. This needs to be explained. First, there are many different views in many different resolutions. So, if you just want to play on the default resolution on the default view, it really is only 550MB. If you downloaded EVERY view in EVERY resolution, then it works out to be about 10GB. I really do not see a need to download every view in every resolution. Therefore, I would not be concerned about the amount of space it will take up on your hard drive. I can only say small one bad thing about the new Pro Pinball Timeshock. If you want to change table views, it must download each one separately and this takes some time to do unless you have a really fast Internet connection. However, once you have done this, there are no more downloads as it saves the downloads on your hard drive. Just as a reference - I am running Pro Pinball on a Mid 2014 PC 15” Retina Display with an Intel Core i7 2.8GHz Processor TurboBoost to 4.0GHz, 16GB of RAM (Memory), Dual Graphics Cards (One Intel Iris Pro w/2GB of Video Memory and One NVIDIA GeForce GT 750 w/2GB of Video Memory), and a 512GB Solid State Drive. Using this Laptop, Pro Pinball runs on MAX Settings using my displays native or default Resolution totally smoothly. The Ball and Flippers work without any lag or jittering. I hope this information helps and I would highly recommend Pro Pinball. I am giving Pro Pinball 5 Stars for the outstanding update, the realism of a real Pinball Table, hours and hours of enjoyable playtime, excellent playability, and the pure fun factor.
