Software Reviews and Criticism

    8 months, no app update

It's been over 8 months since the last app update. Look at most of the reviews... most are 1 or 2 years old. Has the developer moved on to something else? Still no dark mode, search doesn't work as you'd expect, it rarely suggests contact updates from the internet unless you manually make a change to a contact first. I'm finding errors more often with items being deleted that shouldn't be, or contacts not syncing correctly. The only way to find these problems is with the history function only available on the web app. While it's frustrating that the app isn't being updated, it's more frustrating that it's getting hard to rely on it to do it's core function of properly storing my contacts' information. The Contacts Windows app sorely needs attention from the developer. My annual subscription recently renewed which is the main reason why I haven't stopped using it. I would love to update this review if the developer makes this app as reliable as it used to be and implements some long overdue updates.

Quick to take your money, once taken no service

I normally scrutinize apps carefully . I have been a Private Investigator since 1996 while workng for the Alexandria Office of the Sheriff for 10 years. I slipped this time and wanted to try the Contacts App and discovered that once my $9.99 was taken my app did not update. I wll be contacting my credit card service to alert them of this. I tried to get help with their Support team but only got a email saying ("Thanks for contacting us! We have received your request and we'll get back to you as soon as possible. If you would like to add information to this ticket or ask any additional questions, please reply to this email. Talk soon, Your friends at Contacts ) Keep your Credit Card in your pocket....

    Missing Major Feature

If you are using (or planning to use) Contacts so that you can share contacts among an organization or workgroup using their "spaces" feature, you are going to be pretty dissapointed iwth this app. I was excited to see that Contacts offers a desktop app for PC. I installed it and my workspace contacts weren't visible anywhere. I spent time going through all the menus and settings and there was no way to enable or viuew my workspace. It was as if that entire functionality didn;t even exit to the developers of the desktop app. Well, in fact it doesn't exist. I contacted technical support about this, and after around 5 days...and a second E-mail about the same issue, they got back to me and proudly informed me: "And to clarify your question about the Workspaces option, we don't currently support it in our Contacts Pro for Windows app. However, it is available on our Web App and Mobile apps." Ummm. OK. I know. That's why I was asking you why it wasn't in the Desktop app. I'll never understand the choices many softeware developers make....like in this case, why they think their users would enjoy a major useful feature on the web and in iOS, but the very same users wouldn;t possibly want to have the same feature carry over to their desktop experience. I guess that's why I don't make the big bucks...

Long time user, stick with it dispite hiccup as team very good

I’ve been using this app and web service for years, and while it is far from perfect is is better than anything else I’ve tried. And more thatn that, the team is very reponsive and works hard to address constomer comments; they continue to improve the service. The card capture is is fantastic— 99% accurate— and in a world where paper cards are conintue as the main way to share contact info in person, the ability to scan and forget, having the data sync across devices, that improve my work life immeasurably.
