Reliable and Smooth App
For the last 5 years I have been using iAnnotate, Acrobat Reader DC and other minor apps for PDF purposes. PDF Expert is the best by far. I am normally using PDF Expert in 2 different iPad and the Windows mini2011 at the same time. I think that because of dedicated folder inside the iCloud for your pdfs, the management of those documents is very reliable between devices. Now my 3 favorites characteristics from 3 to 1. My third favorite thing is that I can open more than one screen of the app, each-one with 5 to 10+ professional books. The option to make any index in any document or just edit the current’s ones is the second best feature. The first and most awesome feature in my opinion, is the ability to open (like I said before :o) 10+ heavy professional book and make one search between all of them at the same time without any crash at all!! The app make a list of the findings so you can jump to the page in any of the book opened at that moment. Something is wrong with the app that needs improvement? not so much in my opinion… but sometime I can’t read the title of the book that I am looking at because the taps becomes small with many doc open at the same time. HINT!! Will be good a OCR capability for those pdf that shows books in picture mode. In general I recommend this App without hesitation. If you are a student, researcher or any other professional… just get it! Money well spend. Thanks!
PDF Expert rocks!
I spend bulk of my time reading PDF files, while making heavy annotations on them. In its new editions (2.X), PDF Expert has established truly praise-worthy feats in several fronts. In particular, annotating and feature-editing is now remarkably powerful and reliable. For example, you can very easily print only a certain portion of a page by simply removing other elements (figures, text, etc) to save ink. Simple dragging any image into an open PDF page, in addition to editing/cropping/re-positioning of pre-existing images, is also super helpful, if one uses PDF files as a notebook. As far as annotation is concerned, one can use an open PDF page as if it is an open canvas inside Photoshop. All these powerful functions can be done without eating up system resources. Another pretty powerful feature is that one can open two windows from a single file—for example, the left window shows page 3 whereas the right window shows the page 7 of the same document, a truly powerful feature for side-by-side analysis of different segments of a single PDF. Personally, I would be really happy if the future edition provides a PLAYLIST function. This will allow one to create a playlist file linking to specific (eg. all the currently open) PDF files, which will then be used later to open all previously working files at once by simple double-clicking the playlist file.
The best, but not quite perfect, PDF reader
This is the best PDF reader out there, in my opinion. As an academic, I use Readdle’s PDF reader daily—it is perhaps my most used app. It is an especially useful app if, like me, you are pretty deep into the Microsoft ecosystem: I have Readdle’s PDF Expert on my iPhone, iPad, Windows, and Pc and, with the help of Dropbox, I can sealmlessly move between my devices without having to do things like email to myself whatever document I’m working on. PDF Expert is wonderfully integrated into my workflow. The options for annotating documents, running split screens, etc. are excellent. Though I think this app is the best PDF reader available, I do think there is room for improvement. Here are a couple things I would like to see: - On the iPad version of the app, there is a view option that trims the white/blank borders of a document so that just the text part of the document shows up. It would be great if they could engineer a view-option like that for the Windows version. The current work-around involves cropping the document—but this actually alters the document itself. What I’d like is a view-option, that has the same view-effect but without altering the document. - I would like to see an additional full-screen option that hides (or auto-hides) the top toolbar. This way the whole screen can be used for reading purposes.
Bugs
There are bugs throughout the app. The most annoying (and possibly disastrous for those who rely on accuracy) bug is one that causes text which you just edited to revert in a way that you DON'T NOTICE until after you have flattened and sent the PDF. Unbelievable. There are some very overrated PDF apps out there, many of which receive much praise from Windows podcasters and the “cool kids” group of Windows users. I’m guessing these apps started out with a flare, back when there was a relative paucity of business-oriented Windows software. Most of these apps have failed to fulfill their early promise. And then along comes Readdle, birthed from the early days of IOS which has now made some intrusions into the world of Windows software. This app is pretty amazing. Very stable, no annoying bugs, and incredibly slick redaction. Far easier to use and less bug-prone than Adobe’s Windows product. (Adobe Acrobat for the Windows has a startling cumbersomeness to it, and though extremely feature rich, particularly with regard to form creation, it has significant bugs — like failing to be able to print to some printers.) Unfortunately, I do need to keep Acrobat around, because I am finding that PDF Expert does lack the ability to handle some advanced PDF form elements, like drop down lists, but I refuse to dock PDF Expert even one star for this failure, because it is otherwise such a delight to use.
Very Solid Features; Exceptional Customer Service
This PDF Editor does everything. I use it consitently at work and in my personal life. It handles a large range of tasks common and uncommon to PDF editing and management. For example, it’s my go to when you’ve got to sign a document with a legitimate signature, or edit any number of paragraphs on important documents that you may have trouble converting, or if you’d like to annotate in hand written ink. But I’m not even scratching the surface on the capabilities of this program, all I know is that it never leaves me wanting and im continually surprised at the capabilities it gives me on a daily basis. And if the features of this program haven’t sold you yet, the customer service will. There’s an option to send the company any PDF file that you’re having trouble editing on this program due to restrictions, and their customer service team will work whatever magic they’ve got to to get your file back to you within 24 hrs in a completely useable format with no loss of funcitonality to the document itslef. Essentially it’s magic; shout out to Val, you rock bro. It’s like same day service from a personal assistant who’s an expert in PDFs. That is worth the price of the app in itself, and it’s a FREE bonus to you for owning this app. Just get it; you won’t be disappointed.
