    Works for me!

I’m not sure if the negative reviews were based on an earlier version, but for me the app is a good learning tool; multiple engines and levels of look-ahead capability, and variant tracking (and back-tracking) which open up more detailed analysis, plus a wide array of book problems and exercises for the student. Book openings are listed and weighted, although it would be nice to see the nomenclature (i.e. "Ruy Lopez", or "Sicilian Defense") listed as well. A minor point to be sure, but if one is less familiar with the algebraic notation the names are a help. And it’s AOK with Mavericks, which is what I’m running. Also like the “Setup Board” function to recreate game situations from the masters, then apply the engine’s analysis to see how perhaps the existing analysis may have missed something.

    Not Ready for Sale

This description for this app made it sound interesting. Someday it might be. For the moment, it contains very little material, and its essential functions do not work. Customers should avoid this product. It’s presence in the App Store raises serious doubts about Microsoft’s quality-control standards.

This is a very fine program and it's fun and simple too!

I tried the sample of this for more than a year, then purchased the full program. It's complete, written thoughtfully, and has a really nice choice of chess sets and boards on the "settings" portion as well. The books and tactics that can be downloaded are substantial and helpful! One can play against "beginner's AI" , "Club Player AI", all the way up to really substantial IM level. I would recommend this to chess enthusiasts of all ages and skills!
