1. There has never been a better time to get into XMPP, a free public chat network no one controls or owns.
2. - XEP-0313: Message Archive Management to download chat history.
3. Does not phone home and does not have "metrics" software beyond anonymous crash reporting (crashlytics).
4. - With a direct connection to your server, your password and all other info is never sent to a third party.
5. Implements XMPP certain extensions intended to improve mobile communication.
6. Just download the app, login or register and you are ready to chat in minutes.
7. It looks and works the way other apps do, so there is no need to “learn XMPP” or even care what it is.
8. - XEP-0280: Message Carbons keep messages in synch between clients.
9. - XEP-0352: Client State Indication for dramatic reduction on power use.
10. - XEP-0363: HTTP File Upload to send images in conversations.
11. Monal is a fast and user friendly way to use XMPP.
Herunterladen und Installieren Monal - XMPP - PC
Download für PC - Server 1 -->Intel, 64-bit processor, OS X 10.7 or later.
OS vereinbarkeit:ja. Die App ist 100 Prozent (100%) sicher zum Herunterladen und Installieren. Unsere Download-Links stammen aus sicheren Quellen und werden häufig virengescannt, um Sie zu schützen
Fails at accout setup
Works neither with PC Server Chatserver (Jabber/XMPP) nor with Kerio Connect Jabber Chatserver. Quick setup will turn the wheel endlessly ...
Great XMPP solution for PC
Can't wait for the improvements for group chat coming in version 5.1, which will hopefully bring more fine grained notification settings. Thanks too all involved in making Monal ♥️
A really nice XMPP client
I've been looking for a nice iOS/PC experience and Monal really does provide both. Highly recommended for those looking for a nice GUI for XMPP.
No TOR
No mentioning of TOR, or at least a proxy support. Even checked the GitHub repo. Nothing in the app to enable a proxy or TOR in general. The majority of XMPP users are using it for the privacy boost it has over other protocols, and here we have a client rejecting tor. Definitely no good job and a no-go for me. If it has proxy support it is the worst app for hiding this function and not even mentioning it in the GitHub repo. If you are a power user look somewhere else.
Buggy, no support for self-signed servers
Glitchy at best, bugs and crashes at worst. They removed the switch to allow self-signed server certificates and now I can't use monal anymore. Good riddance.
