Needs improving
The interface feels sluggish and doesn’t look very nice (more differentiable/colored icons for the different categories for example would make it easier to see how much was spent on what). Worst of all, the app keeps stopping to work properly. I am again unable to refresh my accounts for the last couple of days without getting any errors that would help me solve the problem.
It hurts my eyes to use this app.
That is the one ugliest finances app I’ve ever used. I mean, the vast majority of the expense tracking apps out there already seems completely ignorant of what the terms „design“ and „user experience“ mean, but MoneyWiz succeeds in being the very worst one in that area. This is the single most unintuitive, user unfriendly, poorly designed App I’ve seen in my life. Ok, it has a lot of features, probably one of the most complete budgeting apps in the AppStore. This should count in favor, and I’d otherwise be happy to pay the 50€ subscription to access all the feats. That is, IF I didn’t wan’t to pluck my eyes off every time I open the app. I’m that kind of person who prefers good design over stuffed features, and will be willing to pay a lot for a good design. Which means, I can’t suffer this lazy interface. I mean, why don’t the dev team get a good designer already? For the look of things, I’d say they don’t even have one. The interface looks like a friggin’ Excel chart! And iOS App is even worse! I mean, the app doesn’t need to be revolutionarily beautiful (like Things from Cultured Code), but a few visual tricks and rearrangements would suffice. It’s a harsh criticism, I know. But it wouldn’t have to be so if the app had put at least a minimum effort into building an acceptable user interface. It’s not the case though. As I said, it’s the laziest and most negligent design I’ve seen in an app so far. So, I remain by my word. Download and see it for yourself.
