Simple and robust
I love this app. I have been using it for about a month now. I am a new small farmer. The free app is definitely not lite, you can manage your herd and record keeping easily with no cost to you. I like that this is a phone app because I usually have my phone with me and can update as I am applying treatments or moving animals rather than have to come in to the computer to update everything. There are two more levels after the free version, the first one offers some really good benefits with a small cost which I am going to try. The second tier includes a nice website and some high end functions that would be great for a larger operation professional ranch. I like this much better than the all for one business finance tracking because it is made for farming. When you purchase an item, in your finance section, you can record a quantity or dose and as you use it in your events, that comes out of inventory. It also populated some of my abga goats pedigrees! Anytime I have had a support question I receive a quick and helpful response - thank you so much for creating this product
Love Livestocked!
I’ve been using the free version for a few months and it’s really great for keeping track of matings, medicating, sales/purchases, etc. I plan to buy the subscription to access the additional features. Just a few things I’d ask to be different so far - I don’t have internet access at the barn, and the app usually won’t let me even open it without because it wants me to sign in again. I have to note what I do and then enter into the app when I get back to the house. The option to add more species or at least have cats & dogs on there, so I can track my barn cats & LGDs. I also recommended the app to a friend who runs sled dogs, and she would love a real Dog option under Species. I can’t figure out how to add an Event for hoof trimming (I keep goats & sheep). I see an assessment section for hooves but not anything for trimming specifically. Not a big deal as I’ve just been adding it as an Event Note, but it would be useful to have. Thanks for making part of the app available for free!
Disappointed
This App looked great from the beginning but once I started adding animals I ran into multiple issues. When adding percentages, you cannot select the exact number. One of ours is 59% Limousin, however the only options closest to that number are either 50% or 62.5%. I’d much rather have exact information rather than an estimated percentage. Also, you cannot enter registration numbers without selecting your association and those options are very limited. Not able to select an association means no ability to enter proper registration . Lastly, you are not able to enter Sire or Dam information unless those animals are part of your “Herd” which means no genetic information of any kind and no means to manually enter EPDs. With those discrepancies, it would be much easier to stick to an Excel spreadsheet.
K-State Herds
This is a great app to use with our herds! Really helps out with the kids 4-H projects and with keeping track of all of the livestock in the properties. Just a few suggestions. Where there’s livestock, there tends to be dead stock. It would be really helpful to a few who use this app if you would add a deceased date and a cause of death. Another thing is, when you enter an offspring and you go to enter in the sire, for instance, the sire has to be in the system as well. If you have bought the animal and you don’t own the sire, should you really have to enter in all of the information for an animal you do not own? Otherwise a great app! I have recommended this to many other small farms over the years!
Easy to use, solid program
I’ve been using this right at a year I believe. Never had a problem with it and it’s very easy to use. Love the features such as keeping track of doses of medicines, costs, pasture movement, etc. My only wish is we also have swine and it would be wonderful to be able to use this program for them as well. But then we’d just be spoiled. Well done folks!
