Great content but can’t stop/start again in Yosemite

I have 2 different LogicProX courses and an HD video on StudioOne that I’m taking and the content is really good. For these Windows app courses the controls are very limited and don’t work well at all on Yosemite. I cannot stop a video when I’m interrupted and start it again, instead I have to quit the app and re-launch it then go to the nearest chapter list start to begin that segment from the beginning whether I like it or not. Same with the shuttle - there is no jumping ahead or backwards - as soon as you touch it you cannot start it again. THESE ARE FUNDAMENTAL CONTROLS and must work. You really should make these much more usable too with additional controls such as jump back 10-30 seconds or play at various speeds so the user can work with the class content better. Guys, please fix this. The N.E.D. app is equally frustrating for the HD content. I felt misled and surprised when the N.E.D. app requirement showed up after my purchase. I also didn’t care for how invasive the app is on my laptop - requiring administrative permissions to do who knows what. There’s got to be a way to offer this content in a more user-friendly way - this feels old school and big brother-ish. Couldn’t you just have figured out how to protect a .mov file so I could watch with QuickTime and my familiar controls?

    Critical features don’t work

I start watching the course and then pause it and go to Logic to try out some of what is being taught. When I return to the course, it can’t be resumed, the play button doesn’t work. I have to close the course, reopen and then start the chapter from the beginning. That’s buggy but I try to move on. I move the playhead in the video in an attempt to get where i left off and I’m screwed again. Once you move the position, the video pauses and you can’t play again. I have to close it, reopen, and watch the chapter from the beginning. This is going to be really annoying. How is this course released with such a flaw?
