Cube Overview
What is Cube? Cube is a time and expense tracking app that allows users to track their time, expenses, and mileage on the go. The app features a timer to track time, configurable cost and tax rates, and the ability to record and share important events with a team. Cube also offers gorgeous charts and PDF reports, reminders to fill in time or tasks due, and cloud sync for instant data syncing. The Pro version includes standalone mode, export data as CSV or Excel, and notifications for timesheets and tasks due. Cube requires a subscription to the "Cloud Sync" service or an in-app purchase for the Pro version. The app is available for Mac, iPad, and iPhone.
1. ▪ The optional Cloud Sync and Cube Anywhere subscriptions makes it easy to backup your data wirelessly and safely to the Google Cloud and to synchronize it with multiple devices.
2. ▪ No new passwords, usernames or registration required - Cloud Sync uses your existing Google, Google Apps, Microsoft, Yahoo or AOL account.
3. Cube requires the subscription of the "Cloud Sync" service, or you can upgrade to the Pro version using in-app purchase.
4. ▪ The subscriptions auto-renews automatically at the end of the subscribed period unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current period.
5. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24-hours prior to the end of the current period.
6. The subscriptions use your existing iTunes account so you do not have to enter any credit card data.
7. No cancellation of the current subscription is allowed during active subscription period.
8. You can manage them directly from Accounts Settings.

Neat idea but could use improvements
I love that I can start a timer on a specific project very quickly. And the ease of setting up clients, projects, and tasks is great. However, if I forget to turn off the timer and need to stop it then adjust the hours, I find the app tries to find a start and end date and the hours are so skewed that it's best for me to shut down the app then re-start it before trying to fix any hours. Minor inconvenience once you figure out how to get around the bug. I'm not sure if there is a feature I can't find but once I invoice, I would like to be able to group those hours and archive them so that I can more easily track non-invoiced hours. A simple "create invoice" feature would be handy, too and likely take care of this problem. There is also an annoying message that shows when I go off network then return - no need to show that message, just take care of the issue in the background without bugging your users. The idea afterall is time efficiency, so every click, every second counts for users of this app. Overall, it works, it's a neat little app and mostly does what it needs to do. I expect there are apps out there that are more user-friendly though so my suggestion is that Cube invest in great UX Designers and let them really get their hands on this product to bring the UX to the next level.
Weird, clumsy, non-standard interface. A real pain.
All the settings are done with a strange, sequential rather than tabbed interface. You can't just make a change and save it, you have to navigate your way to the setting, then navigate all the way back to the first page to save your changes. That's a major pain, because it takes at least twice as much work and twice as much time as it should. There is no menu bar for the clock or for starting or stopping time, or icon badge with elapsed time either. In fact, when you close the window, the whole program quits, which is a very bad idea for this kind of app. The basic functionality looks good. If the interface weren't so weird, and if it didn't do so many things in "non-Microsoft" ways, I might actually recommend it. But as it is, I'm going to uninstall it. It's a waste of my time.
Great for Tracking basic Projects
Very user friendly. Crashes at times but works non the less.
iPad app working great on the Windows
The app looks and works exactly like its excellent iPad version. Information architecture is thoughtful - time belongs to tasks and tasks belong to projects - while providing you with a great level of flexibility. Syncing between iPad, iPhone and Windows version works great as well. The main reason for paying - other than apprciating the developers who put this together - is to have the ability to export reports. You need to have some data in the app to actually see anything in the reports but from my several tests it appears to be working. The one thing the developers could to make the app better is add tab stops - like in a normal desktop app. Tabbing between form fields appear to not work - probably because the code expects screen taps - not really available in the desktop world yet. In short - an app you would enjoy putting time into and worth paying for!
