What does Page Layers do? Page Layers is a Mac website screenshot app that converts web pages to Photoshop files featuring separate layers for all page elements. Page Layers allows you to import existing pages into Photoshop and will save you lots of time when re-designing or improving existing web pages. Just open any page in the embedded browser and save the page as PSD with layers or plain PNG. Every web page element (every image, link, block, …) will be rendered as separate, named layer. Layer groups will be created according to the site structure. It is the only OS X website screenshot app you will ever need, unique in its capability to capture web pages with layers.

Its pretty good, but needs work
Thanks for the app, I do appreciate it! Can be a huge time-saver, just need to fix this one thing... I am most needing the capture of text as well as the image elements on a page. The editable text feature works only in one instance: when you capture a page from the very top. This is a problem, because its pretty common for pages to have elements like parallax that screws up a full page capture, so you have to chunk the page into viewport captures… its slighly tedious, but understandable. The editable text is captured when you scan a portion of a page, however, when I click on the text layer in photoshop CC (latest ver), the text disappears! Some kind of weird glitch. If you can fix this one thing, I’ll absolutely 5 star it!
Works Needs more control
This app does work better than the others in its category, but it lacks control. It would be nice to be able to be more selective as to what gets included as a layer and what is composited within the parent element. It would also be nice to have better control of naming the resulting layers. Also, there needs to be a button to clear the cache so if you are developing an app and you make a change, it's reflected. Finally, they don't seem to respond to customer service requests.
Incredible, even for dynamic sites
Managed to perfectly grab one of the most complicated and dynamic sites I've ever seen, hosted on a finicky CMS platform. Truly amazing. Even the dynamically fed content came through prefectly. I'd like to see objects that are maked in CSS come through full size, or at least have the mask reflected in the PSD. And I also agree with those who want editable type, even in web font format. Aside from those two things, this app is perfect. UPDATE: Fantastic update. Thanks! Update 2: App now seems to crash occasionally when reloading a page for export. Can be quite frustrating. Would also love single page PDF export.
YESSSS!!!
I owe the developers an apology… sort of. In my initial review I griped about the software not being able to retain editable text. This feature is, in fact, available upon capturing/saving the screenshot - I’m just blind I guess. HOWEVER….. when opening Photoshop - even though it did retain the text layers (or says it did) - it still would not allow me to actually edit them due to a program error. Not sure if this is a site-specific problem that occurs when fonts aren’t native to the browser (Google fonts of Adobe Webkit) or what… but it aint happening :/ I’ll update my review again if it turns out I’m just an idiot doing something wrong again. Other than all that, I seriously love this program.
