  helps you focus, focus, focus

  So great to have an app that a) works; b) does what it says it can do; and c) what it does is so helpful. If you’re like me and you’ve got 5 apps running, and multiple documents / files open and all laying there llike a strewn deck of cards after a drunken poker game, and you’re saying “I just want to block out all that distraction, even momentarily, while I laser-like focus on this one document…” - get this. It’s a superb app, and for a pittance! And it’s NOT one of those crappy amateur apps that are more headache than solution. It sits up there in the way-top menu bar and you turn it on and off at your whim. You choose your background blockout color and even its degree of opacity. And you can bring back your chaos at will.

  It’s the small things that count

  As many reviewers state, I was a bit hesitant to spend even a couple dollars on something that seems pretty mundane. I mean, what will graying out background screens really do to boost productivity & focus? Plus, most of my work is done in full screen windows anyways. As I’m working on a Keynote presentation, however, and try to toggle between that and the internet browser, I realize the gray out is in fact SUPER helpful! This app is so simple and straightforward, I don’t think there’s much else to say. The gray out keeps my eyes stay focused the window at hand while keeping others accessible for use. I have a feeling I’ll be working split screen more often now!

  I was skeptical, but Hazeover is that good.

  I didn’t think that applying “haze” over all my inactive windows would enhance my productivity. I was wrong. This simple-yet-effective app not only brings your work into focus, but eliminates the distraction around it. You can control th level of haze, which is great since I prefer an 85% filter over the default setting. I currently use this on a 2 monitor set up and it works great. Zero issues. I’ll repeat myself, it’s all very simple, and very effective. This (along with Be Focused Pro and Time Sink) has become a go-to productivity app for me. I had no idea how much time was lost to wandering eyes. The $5 easily paid for itself on day 1, probably hour 1.

  Great App, not worth the price

  The interface for the preferences is well designed, the animations and implemtation are well thought out. But I have two problems: One, when you go into mission control you can see the "haze" moving along as if it's a window, which really messes with the whole polished and integrated feel of the app; I wish that as soon as you triggered mission control the haze would turn off. Two, while the app is cool, and useful when the time is right, I find myself not using it often enough to warrent the price. So before you buy this app please think of how often you will REALLY use it. Once again I would be more ok with all of these "issues" if the app did not cost so much. But overall it works as advertised.

  Saved me from Big Sur!!

  Moments after booting into Big Sur after the update, I was heart brokeng with how horrible the user interface changes felt. This app doesn't fix ALL of them, but being able to more clearly change the active from inactive windows has made a phenomenal difference!! I wish I could fix the menu bar and remover translucency, and using the Acccessibility setting doesn't work for me as it affects more than just the menu bar... I found another app, but $9.95 $9.95 for updates seems to steep for a simple thing. And don't get me started on the menu bar icon spacing changes... So it is things like that which make me love this app so much becuase it does what it sets out to do and does it so extremely well, I LOVE IT.
