GPU PBR rendering on the Windows

GPUs can cast rays a thousand times faster than a CPU. That's a big deal if you need to produce images with global illumination and other physically based effects which require billions of rays per frame. Octane can fully render scenes in a few seconds that would take a CPU renderer an hour or more.

    Finally

After refreshing Otoy's forums all summer leading up to Big Sur's release, it's great to see that the delays were all merited, as this release is top quality so far.

    Not the easiest to setup

And thats just the account :) After setting up the account, the sign in didnt recognize my brand new log in. Repeatedly. It also kept asking me to create a new password. Youre either way too secure to allow your potential customer base to enjoy your work or the sign in/log in are flawed. Either way, I'm out. I'll try again another time. Good luck.

    Wow this is fast.

I'm going to have a lot of fun playinh with this. Glad I upgraded my Windows Pro to a RX 5700 XT.

    Confusing

While it wasn't intuitive, I managed to get Octane X installed, created my account, and it's running. But there seems to be no documentation for this version of Octane on the company's doc site. Is Octane X the same as OctaneRender Standalone Edition? I have no idea. Nor do I see any way to bridge the gap between Cinema 4D and this version of Octane which exists without a C4D plugin. So, yeah, I'm confused. Gonna close it up and come back in a month to see if anything has improved.
