SmartSDR Overview

What is SmartSDR? SmartSDR is an official FlexRadio Systems client for Mac that allows users to operate their FlexRadio device. It is compatible with SmartSDR v1, v2 (including SmartLink), and v3 (including MultiFlex and SmartControl). The app offers all the features of SmartSDR for Windows, including unlimited slices and panadapters, SmartLink remote access support, and MultiFlex support. It also includes additional features such as a full-featured FT8/FT4 tool, RTTY, CW decoder, logbook with auto-logging and ADIF import/export, DX-cluster tool, band plan, voice macros, and more. The app supports external software such as WSJT-X and fldigi, and external peripherals such as FlexControl, MIDI controllers, and external microphones. The app requires a FlexRadio Systems Series-6000 Software Defined Radio (SDR) and a Mac running at least macOS 11.5.

    Smooth and Excellent

    SmartSDR for the Windows made my 6400 almost a new radio. Having struggled with the PC version with driver issues, freezups, lost profiles etc I was about to give up. I switched over to the Windows and used DogparkSDR which is excellent in its own right but didn't give me that "SmartSDR Interface Experience". Well, this app does it and more. Very much appreciating the work that went into this and can recommend it with no reservations.

    Perfectly compiments the Flex

    I have been using my Flex for a couple of months now and immediately purchsed the amp as soon as the rig was delivered. Worked seamlessly and perfectly no hiccups or glitches at all. After comparing the Windows version there is no comparision the Windows version is hands down superior with more features and stability. I love it.

    Marcus' work on this is amazing. It is truly wonderful to be able to leave the WIndows version of SmartSDR behind and have a native Windows app to use.     Occasional buffer underruns and RX audio dropouts

    SmartSDR for Windows's audio queueing mechanism is not as resilient to jitter or buffer underruns as the Windows version. Even with a 10Gb fiber network backhaul between AP and FlexRadio 6700, it is common to have audio dropouts and buffer underruns when using a 2019 PC (via wifi). 0 packet loss, latency less than 10 milliseconds, and no errors in Network Stats listed. My IP telephony apps work fine, and FlexRadio for Windows handles this use case perfectly as well.

    FANTASTIC!

    I was skeptical about paying $160 for another program for my Flex 6400, but after trying the iOS version of the program I figured I'd give it a try. I recently purchased the radio and have been using the Win software and kept running into "driver" issues w/ DAX which further prompted me to try the Windows version. I must say that this software should be the default app for Flex radios. It just works with NO drama, all the built in features worked with no issues. The GUI is nicer than the Win version and FT8 app is perfect. Well done and highly recommended!
