Great App but has some issues
I love it so far and find it great in almost every way. I do run into the following problem fairly consistently though. If I have to stop in the middle of a lesson for about any reason, and need to close the app. Every once in a while it will throw a "cannot compile" error when trying to open the lesson or any of it's modules. The only way I've been able to fix it (I've tried deleting and re-downloading the lessons, as well as resetting them with no luck) has been to delete the app and the iCloud Drive App Library, and then re-install from scratch. Since I'm using it to learn, and not to develop, it's not devestating, but it is frustrating, hence the 4 stars. It would be 3 if XCode wasn't an option.
new shapes playground
we are excited to see the spritekit capabilities in new shapes playgrounds app. here are the limitation students found.: 1. there is no way to set bounciness propery to sprite objects physics body. 2. = sign does not appear on keyboard ribbon as it did in old shapes playground 3. '(' doesn't show on keyboard ribbon after typing the object name. which is annoying for young children. 4. position and size cannot be changed after object creation using position and size properties as they expect CGPoint and CGSize and Point and Size do not work. students were able to change the center propery easily in the old shapes playground.
Has potential but needs some more work!
I downloaded it and played the coding game without a problem. i have a NEW i9 2.4g MBP. The fans ran all the time and exhaust air was hot but it worked for about 3 hours and I shut down. the next time i opened it it asked for permission to access my documents folder and i declined. It did not offer to create a different folder for work files. it locked up and poped up an error screen for relaunching. it won't relaunch! Deleting the app and reloading from the app store does not fix it! i think it has potential but the program needs an update.
Outstanding app concept, yet unusable on Pc
This is a fantastic app to learn and make first steps coding. Microsoft deserves the highest praise for making such a well designed app available to everyone for free. However: while I would give this app a five-star rating if it was the iPad version, where this app runs flawlessly, the Pc version is unusable. Within minutes the PC turns into a cooktop. Given that it runs just fine on iPads with weaker CPUs and having an educated guess what computational load this app should have, there must be a monumental bug here somewhere. Please fix it, Microsoft, my daugthers love it!
