everyday Overview

What is everyday? Everyday is a simple and beautiful habit tracker app that helps users form new habits to achieve their goals. The app encourages users to do their habits every day, as this helps them form new habits that will eventually lead them to their goals. The app features a "Don't Break the Chain" feature, which motivates users to keep going by showing them their progress and streaks on a single beautiful board. The app is available on multiple platforms, including web, mobile, and browser extensions, and is synchronized across all devices. Users can customize their board, sort their habits, and group them in categories. The app also offers simple statistics to help users track their progress and overcome their own streaks. The app is free forever, but users can upgrade to Everyday Premium for unlimited access to powerful features on multiple devices. The app is run by Joan Boixadós, an indie maker, who believes that by doing a little bit every day, no matter how little, users can accomplish anything in the long run.

Software Reviews and Criticism

    Amazing

It’s cliche but I really don’t write reviews ever. I’ve recently been testing 4 or 5 different habit trackers and then found this one and realized my search was over. It has worked flawlessly for me thus far and the user interface truly is gorgeous. I needed something that had a web UI since I spend most my time working with 4 monitors and this has worked great between my windows desktop, iPad, and iPhone. The bright sharp colors motivate me to stick to my habits in order to fill it up while the dark mode is nice and easy on my eyes. Also love the streak counters on the side so I can see them without having to go searching. Signed up for a year and it was worth every dollar.

    Developer jacked up the prices

Price went from $1/month to $5/month, or from $12/year to $30/year. Most of the “worth it” reviews reflect the original pricing. No clue why the developer suddenly felt the app was worth 3x the price, and moreover, I’m just sad that apps that once went for a one time purchase of $3 to $5 are now trying to charge the same monthly. I blame Microsoft for that... greedy! UPDATE: Developer responded below that the price had to go to because the app wasn’t sustainable. That’s the problem with many app developers today. They want to write one app, get customers, then raise the price. They’ve given up on making other apps and adding more value to draw in more customers. Instead, they’re exploiting their one success story and raising prices for the few who are willing to stick around. It’s happening over and over and over. $4 calendar utilities turning into $20 calendar utilities for a “polish” upgrade, turning into $30/year subscriptions - for a calendar utility. At the end of the day, if you feel like an app that replicates what you can do with a spreadsheet is worth $60/year, go for it. But this sort of price jacking is ruining the App Store, slowly, through attrition. Maybe the balance sheets don’t yet reflect it, but they will.

    Solid app

(If you read this first part, please read all!) With a simple app such as this, there really shouldn’t even be a price. At least not one like $30 per year. Even though it’s a small price overall, maybe the app should just cost a small $5 fee as a one time purchase. I downloaded the app because I thought it was going to be a good habit tracker. Then, after finding out I can only track 3 habits max unless I purchase the “premium” package.... not worth it. I can just find another app that’ll be free or of very little cost. (I’m leaving my previous comment so it’ll remind me not to submit such a critical and pointless review) After reading others reviews and much consideration, I’ve decided to “amend” my previous review. I completely understand now that apps do cost money, not just to create, but also to run, maintain, and update and upgrade. I appreciate all the work that has been put into this app! It really is a great Habit Tracking app that is well developed and designed. I was angry that I couldn’t find a simple app that I could download and use that was free and could simply track like 5 to 10 habits. Most of the apps I’ve found only track 3 and for a limited time because of the cost to run the app. It’s completely understandable and I apologize for being so stupid with my first posting of my review. $30 for an entire year is really a STEAL for any user wanting a solid app such as this one!!

Great little app and great motivation

Someone recommended I try this app to keep track of goals I wanted to accomplish. The first three tasks are free but any more will cost a subscription. I had previously seen a discount in December and I must have missed it, but Joan still hooked me up with the discounted subscription. Joan is also very accessible and responsive to questions or feedback. I like to support the indie developer and everyday has helped me maintain momentum for the tasks I want to track and achieve. Give it a shot and I highly recommend supporting your indie devs, especially if you get some satisfaction from the app!

    Visually compelling and wonderfully executed

I’ve tried numerous habit trackers and reminder apps over the years, and nothing has grabbed me so completely as this one. The visuals, the clean interface, the gentle reminders to not skip two days (but no “punishment” other than a break in the color gradient if you need to skip twice), the incredibly compelling and nuanced widget options— all of this earns a “wow” from me. I’m historically resistant to subscriptions, but $29/year for what this app is giving me in terms of mental health is an absolute steal. Yes, you could do this on paper, but will you? You could do this in a spreadsheet, but will you? Having the large widget right there on my Home Screen has been motivating in a way I have honestly never felt. If you have ADHD this is a jolt to the system in the best possible way. If you’re an artist or designer you’ll love the aesthetic. If you simply need an easy way to track a few habits, go with the free version, it’s marvelous and without ads or other shackles. If you need more than three habits, great! The paid version is well worth the subscription, and I’m glad to be putting money in a skilled independent developer’s hands. Thank you Joan!
