Slow and preview non existent
Purchased to view my ORF raw files. It does view raw files but not as shown in the above video. The preview window on the left showing file that are in a folder only shows blank squares for my raw files. Only after I click on one, then it loads and you can view it. Waste of money for me. :-(
Just What I Wanted
I needed a simple slideshow viewer that didn't force me to make a video, and Phiewer Pro is it. I also wanted a program that would display the file name, and Phiewer Pro not only displays it but lets you choose the size and place it anywhere on the screen. Lastly, I wanted a program that would automatically play videos in the slideshow stream, and again Phiewer Pro does it. If I was forced to complain, I'd say the display size options aren't clear, but a little experimentation cleared up the confusion. Great program, thank you!
File/Folder handling is just bad
Whle it does view an array of file types, getting to your files is frustrating at best. You are constantly forced to traverse it's file handling scheme which is very poorly designed. Hit the home button, start looking for directories that have files, pray that you don't select a folder with no 'readable' files, for it will petulantly refuse to go any further. It truly needs a complete redesign of it's interface to be of any real use. It stubbornly refuses to make/load thumbnails except in the rarest of circumstances. All in all, not a very good purchase. It's just too hard to get where you need to go to view the files/photos/videos etc.
Mind-numbingly annoying
I got the Pro version a few days ago and I'm about to delete it... when I click on an image to view, every single effing time Phiewer asks my permission to open up the directory that the image is in. Why god, please tell me why!!??!!?? This step makes this viewer beyond annoying—and it’s so completely dumb. Just open the image!!! Don’t slow me down tith a question box in which I will ALWAYS answer YES!! Yes, I want to open the image!!!! Just do it!!! I’ve paid for three viewers now, and each one found a way to totally screw things up. I’m running out of viewers to try…
Worse than the lite version
The "PRO" version is actually worse than the free version. At least with the free version, you can get it to scale up small images to fill the screen. Pay five bucks for the "PRO" version and that feature is now only available for slideshows. Overall, this software tries to be a nice simple way to view a folder full of photos, but it's missing extremely basic features like configuring image scaling, or advancing slideshows when you click a button instead of on a fixed timer, or being able to back up in a slideshow.
