Ap doesnt work
I spent almost $1000 on this frame, and can’t get the app to work on my computer! It hangs up at the login. Pretty frustrating!!
Works, but very clunky
First off, the app does seem to work — for the most part. The only real problem I have is that sometimes it will not connect to a particular frame until that frame is manually restarted. Annoying to say the least, though I can’t be sure whether this is a problem with the app for the frame. That said, the app is extremely clunky to use. The first thing you’ll notice is that the app is *full screen*. Hit the green button to take it out of full screen, and it’s *still* full screen. (Well, it’s a non-resizable window exactly the size of your screen. I guess you can drag it out of the way? But that’s *really* not any better.) This app could do liretally everything it currently does using native UI in a window maybe 1/3 of the size of the 30” screen I run it on. Add seperate preference windows, scrolling, etc. (i.e. well-designed native UI), and you could actually have this app open along side your photo management app of choice. The process for configuring new Memento frames could also be better. You’ll need to connect to the frame’s Wi-Fi network, locate the correct page from which to configure the frame, get it up and running, and remember to remove the temporary Wi-Fi network from those your Windows will automatically connect to. At a minimum, it’s odd that the app can detect configured frames on your network, but can’t automatically discover a frame in configuration mode while you’re connected to it’s Wi-Fi network. Also, the astute may notice that, should Wi-Fi ever go down, the Memento will re-enter setup mode. At this point, *anyone* can connect to the frame, configure it to connect to their own network, and manage photos on the frame. So, don’t put anything on your frame that you wouldn’t want a curious neighbor or passing stranger to see.
App works for me
Unlike the other reviews here, the application does work for me. OTOH, after uploading about 100 photos, it did hang up and I had to relaunch it. It then worked fine again. I probably would have given it 5 stars rating otherwise. FWIW, I am running on an Windows with OS 10.10 Yosemite Functionality is similar to the iPhone app. It is pretty simple and straightforward to use, but I wish it had a better photo picker interface than the standard file selection dialog. The iPhone app does better on this, but its far easier for me to load photos from my SLR SD card via the computer. The workaround on this is to set up a file on the Windows with the photos you want to upload, using normal Windows Finder. Then you can use the Memento App to just select everything and upload it all at once. On an unrelated topic, the Memento frame itself is great.
