Great Alternative to Quicken for Windows
UPDATE: Scimonce has released a new financial management program; I will certainly upgrade into as soon as it makes sense. Great hopes, since this original app has been terrific. Perfectly meets my needs, and the developer support is timely/outstanding. —— Totally agree with reviewer maxfinis. I have been using See Finance since Quicken decided to dumb down their home versions. I don’t require the complexity of QuickBooks, but need someting more than the basics to keep track of some simple home businesses. I paid for and have used the beta versions for years; now that it’s a “full release” I’m happy to support the developers.
Very good, still work to do
I’ve used this since it’s early beta days — like many I needed something that would work after Quicken abandoned us Windows users. SEE Finance has been the best of the bunch since. As others point out it’s stable, fast, accurate, imports QIF and QFX files well, and will work with your bank (most of them, most of the time). There are quirks for us old Quicken users: SEE apparently implements elements of double-entry accounting. I’m sure that’s a good idea but it took a while to understand that. Complaints: 1) I still can’t get used to the ‘reconcile’ function of SEE after having used Quicken. The latter just plain worked, whereas SEE is confusing. 2) Investment transactions still aren’t as seamless as I’d like, though to their credit SEE 1.0 is better than the 0.8x and 0.9x betas at this. I just want an accurate accounting for tax purposes and to know what my investments are worth. Overall: 4-stars with plenty of potential. Again: stable, reliable, workhorse for personal accounting. I won’t go back to Quicken.
Update: no longer Annoying mislabeled transaction field
I totally did not understand the payee field as the drop-down menu within it held only my account names. I see now that I can type in the actual payee and that the info is autosaved. After a speedy reply to my review from customer support, I realizes the error of my ways and upgraded my rating to 4 stars. My apologies for the previous rant.

I wish the reconcilation of bank statements was a little better. I have used Quickbooks and find this method a little frustrating. Maybe its just me. But I feel it could be better.
